QT group customized sea water desalination system in Kendari thermal power plant project in Indonesia

Kendari thermal power plant in Kendari, the capital of Sulawesi province in Southeast Indonesia, this project belongs to the State Power Corporation of Indonesia (PLN), and funded by Indonesia PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk group. Qingdao Tongfang Thermal Power Equipment Co., Ltd. has contracted the construction of boiler make-up water system of the power plant, and the fresh water supply of make-up water adopts advanced desalination technology. QT company is responsible for providing the main equipment and commissioning services of desalination.
The thermal power plant project started construction in 2016. The project is located in Morosi village, Bondoala District, Konawe, Kendari city. After the project is completed and put into operation, it can generate about 880 million kWh per year, which will provide important power and energy guarantee for local Indonesia. The water quality of thermal power plant is directly related to the safe operation of thermal equipment. Poor water quality will cause scaling and corrosion of boilers and steam turbines. The improper selection of water treatment process will not only increase the one-time investment and operation costs, but also seriously affect the normal operation of thermal power plants. Therefore, boiler make-up water is the key factor to determine the long-term stable operation of thermal power plant in its process selection, equipment selection and operation management.
Mr. Fang Lei, project manager of QT company, participated in and witnessed the whole process of seawater desalination project construction of Kendari thermal power plant. He said with emotion: "although our desalination system is only a small part of the thermal power plant project, stable fresh water supply and excellent water quality are the key to the good operation of steam turbine and boiler, which can determine the whole thermal power plant’s ‘life and death’ . " QT is responsible for the design and construction of customized desalination system, with an output of 2x800 tons/day, the way of skid integration is adopted, which is sharp and generous, and greatly saves space; the system frame is sprayed with 5 layers of anti-corrosion paint to avoid the corrosion of salt mist and leakage; the APP 65 series high-pressure pump from Danfoss is adopted, which produces more fresh water per unit than any other pump options. The whole project has no temporary change in the process of on-site implementation.
"QT company participated in the construction of boiler make-up water system of Kendari thermal power plant in Indonesia from April 2017 to January 2018, including the provision of main desalination equipment and commissioning services. The contract requires a completion period of 14 months, while the actual delivery is only 10 months. We are very satisfied with the implementation period, equipment quality and effluent quality. As the owner of this key thermal power project, Indonesia national power company (PLN) also pays close attention to the progress of the project, and has supervised the desalination system constructed by QT company for many times. Mr. Fang Lei gives a warm explanation to them every time, and has provided systematic technical training for the operators of Indonesia national power company. When the project is delivered, it is ensured that the operators can complete the daily maintenance work reliably.
